Many of their available collections are hand-scraped, raising the grain to produce more of an antique look.  Anderson is known for its 5-ply construction engineered flooring, developed by the company's founder, L.W. Anderson.  This process is still used today as the industry standard and creates flooring renowned for its durability, efficiency, and versatility.  The construction of this flooring alternates the grain structure of five separate wood plies, which produces a product that rivals the strength of steel and yet only uses half as much wood as solid floors  A marvelous result of this process is that the maximum of each log is utilized while the flooring strength and durability is increased up to 100 percent.

Anderson is a company known for many 'firsts'.  They pioneered a no-wax wood finish; introduced pecan, beech, and Southern elm flooring; and developed the premier urethane finish.  Then the company revolutionized pre-finished hardwood floors with the introduction  of aluminum oxide finishes which create incredibly durable, stain-resistant floors.
