Lori Mowl has taught for Lewisville ISD for twenty years and currently serves as the math department chair at Briarhill Middle School. She teaches math to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and coaches all three Math UIL teams for the school. Lori serves as a curriculum writer for LISD and as a mentor teacher for new hires in middle school math.
She works with TWU pre-service teachers and mentors UNT Teacher North Texas students. In 2007, she was selected as a Walmart’s Teacher of the Year.
Lori is married and has three children. Her oldest daughter is on the same drill team where Lori was a member 30 years ago. Her middle child is a medically dependent, special needs boy who was born with half a heart and who loves learning, and her youngest child is a G/T student who has ADHD and autism. Lori feels blessed to not only be a mother to these beautiful children, but she uses her experiences at home to better understand the diversity of learners in her classroom when planning activities and experiences. She truly believes that math is figure-out-able and that love and grace play a big role in the education process for middle schoolers.
